Here are some some tips to keep up a good relationship:

Make time for each other

  • Share a meal
  • Take up a sport together
  • go for a walk
  • have sex
  • don't just sit in front of the TV

Take time to talk about what has happened in each others day. This will help you both to:

  • Unwind, and let go of any tension built up through the day.
  • Understand other parts of your partner's life.

Sort problems out as and when they occur

  • Be clear about what the problem is and why it is upsetting you.
  • Try to see things from your partner's point of view as well.
  • Don't bring things up from the past to use against your partner.

Accept that your partner will not be able to meet all of your needs

  • Some of your needs will have to be met outside of the relationship.
  • Make sure you set aside time for friends and family.
  • Take up other interests that do not involve your partner.

Don't be critical of your partner

  • Encourage your partner to achieve their goals.
  • Work towards accepting your differences.
  • Do not try to change your partner.
