The Vicious Circle
Low self esteem can mean we do things that make us feel even worse about ourselves. This creates a vicious circle.
If your boss has pointed out some mistakes you've made, you may take these comments to heart. In your head this criticism may mean that you can't do your job. If your self esteem was a bit low to start with, this comment would be another blow. What you think about yourself starts to affect what you do. What your then do confirms what you think about yourself. The vicious circle keeps going.
It can be difficult to break this vicious circle and feel better about yourself.
