A word on suicide
Thoughts about suicide are common in stress. There are two main types. The first type is when you say things like:
My life is so awful that I go to bed at night and I don't care if I wake up in the morning
This thought tells you that you are depressed. But this is not a suicidal thought. You are not planning to take your life. These are very common thoughts when you are stressed. They are telling you to fight back.
The second type is of more concern. This would be thoughts such as:
I will buy a strong rope and drive to a quiet part of the country where I won't be disturbed
or
I will store up my tablets so I have enough to end it all when the family are out
These are active thoughts where you are making plans to end your life. If you feel a strong sense of hopelessness or if you feel that there is no way out except by suicide, tell your GP now. Never give up hope.
