Anger and the body

  • Adrenaline rush We have all felt this before. It's that feeling of tension before something big, exciting or risky happens. Adrenaline causes that feeling of red mist when you lose your temper. Your muscles become pumped up and ready for action. Your heart beats faster. Blood pressure goes up. Muscles become more tense. Breathing becomes faster. You may become hot, sweaty and flushed.
  • Feeling tense Angry feelings often result from muscle tension that builds up over time. When you feel strung-out and tense, there is more chance you will get angry. Being tensed up makes you more likely to over react.
